To play padel in Cape Town, book The Racket + Ball Club on Bree Street for indoor courts in the City Centre, or Africa Padel at The Bay Hotel for outdoor courts in Camps Bay. THE GRID in Three Anchor Bay and Africa Padel Claremont are the other big outdoor options. On windy days, go indoors at Woodstock, Salt River or Paarden Eiland. Padelsnipe counted 27 clubs and 99 courts in Cape Town in September 2026.

Amaya is designed in Sea Point, so the Atlantic courts are a short drive from the studio. This guide covers the whole city. We say what we love; we are not affiliated with any of these places. Check hours before you go.

Indoor or outdoor: the wind decides

Cape Town summer brings the south-easterly wind. On an outdoor court it carries the ball and makes lobs hard to judge. The outdoor courts below are on the coast or in the open, so on a strong wind day, book indoors. Outdoor courts give you the views and the light; indoor courts give you a game you can plan.

Indoor courts

The Racket + Ball Club, Bree Street

The RB Club is at 261 Bree Street in the City Centre. It has 4 indoor courts on a Mondo surface, a gym and a pro shop. SHOTT Restaurant & Bar is on site for after the game. It opens 06:00 to 23:00 on weekdays. Visitors can take a tourist membership at R2 000 for 2 months.

Aura Padel Club, Woodstock

Aura Padel Club in Woodstock has 3 indoor courts. Check the address and booking system before you go.

Woodstock Virgin Active Padel Club

Virgin Active runs a second indoor padel club in Woodstock, also with 3 indoor courts. Check access rules for non-members before you book.

Padel City, Salt River

Padel City in Salt River has 2 indoor courts. Check the address and booking system before you go.

Arturf Padel Arena, Paarden Eiland

Arturf is at 39 Industry Road, Paarden Eiland. It has 6 courts and hosts SAPA tournaments. Sources disagree on how many are indoor, so ask when you book if the wind is up.

Outdoor courts

Africa Padel at The Bay Hotel, Camps Bay

The club is at The Rotunda, AF Keen Drive, Camps Bay, with the entrance near the Camps Bay soccer fields. It has 4 outdoor courts and opens daily 06:00 to 22:00. Book through Playtomic.

THE GRID, Three Anchor Bay

THE GRID is on the corner of Helen Suzman Boulevard and Bill Peters Drive, between Green Point and Three Anchor Bay. It has 4 outdoor courts. We found no official website, so check its listing on capetown.travel before you go.

Africa Padel Claremont

Africa Padel Claremont has 9 outdoor courts, the most on this list. It runs evening competitions and social doubles, which is the easiest way to find a game if you are new. Confirm the address when you book.

Virgin Active Point, Green Point

The Point Collection Country Club on Bill Peters Drive, Green Point, has 4 outdoor padel courts. It is members only. The club also has pickleball, tennis, a 25 m pool and a spa with sauna and cold plunge.

The Glen Virgin Active Padel Club

This club is at 3 Victoria Road, The Glen, between Clifton and Camps Bay. Its courts are outdoor; sources disagree on whether there are 1 or 3. It is a Virgin Active club, so check guest access.

New to padel

Start with social doubles: Africa Padel Claremont runs them alongside its evening competitions. If you need a racket, the RB Club on Bree Street has a pro shop on site. Africa Padel Camps Bay books through Playtomic, so you can see open slots before you drive over. Once you are hooked, the RB Club hosts Padel4Good and SAPA tournaments.

Which one for what

  • Windy day: The Racket + Ball Club, Aura or Padel City, all indoor.
  • Outdoor on the Atlantic side: Africa Padel Camps Bay or THE GRID.
  • Finding a game as a newcomer: social doubles at Africa Padel Claremont.
  • Tournaments: The Racket + Ball Club and Arturf both host SAPA events.
  • Visiting for a few weeks: the RB Club tourist membership, R2 000 for 2 months.
  • Padel plus pool and spa: Virgin Active Point, members only.
  • Early start before work: the RB Club from 06:00, or Africa Padel Camps Bay from 06:00.

Strength between games

Padel is hard on shoulders, knees and backs, and a strength session or two a week keeps you on court. In Sea Point that means BUC Fitness Club on the 3rd floor of The Point, 76 Regent Road: personal trainers, biokineticists and physiotherapists in one club, including sport-specific training. For a group class, SWEAT 1000 is in the same club; book Bjorn Steinbach. Hours and prices are in our Sea Point gym guide.

What to wear

On court, wear proper court shoes and activewear. Padel is quick sideways movement, and a dress is not made for that.

After the game is different. At SHOTT on Bree Street or a drink in Camps Bay, the Nusa Top (R1 199) with Shio Pants (R1 800) works: linen, easy, and the pants stay put in the wind. If the game runs into dinner, the Lola Dress (R1 950) is a printed halter dress. For the drive home, the Wild Lounge Set (R1 650).
