On Cape Town's Atlantic Seaboard a week of movement runs like this: a SWEAT 1000 class at BUC Fitness Club in The Point, reformer at The Movement Lab in Sea Point or at Virgin Active Point Collection Country Club in Green Point, a guided sauna and cold plunge at SaunaHaüs in Mouille Point, an evening run that ends in the sea with Running Late Club or NotSoFast, padel at The Grid in Three Anchor Bay, Africa Padel in Camps Bay or Racket+Ball Club on Bree Street, and a dip at Saunders Rock, Camps Bay tidal pool or the Sea Point Pavilion. That is the Amaya week, and everything on the list sits between Mouille Point and Camps Bay, plus 2 options on Bree Street for the days you are in town.

Amaya is designed in Sea Point, so this is the week the studio actually has. We say what we love; we are not affiliated with any of these places. Schedules change, so check each one before you go, and book the reformer the day before.

Reformer: The Movement Lab, Sea Point, Claremont and Bree Street

The Movement Lab is a STOTT Pilates reformer studio with 2 branches now and a third on the way: 202B Main Road in Sea Point, 16 Dreyer Street in Claremont, and 111 Bree Street opening in October 2026. Amaya loves it because a reformer class wakes you up without wrecking you for the rest of the day, and because the Sea Point studio is close enough to the Promenade for the sea dip to follow. The Claremont studio is in the same suburb as The Lot Collective at 15 Vineyard Road, where Amaya is stocked, so a fitting fits the same morning.

Wear and bring: leggings, grip socks, water. Pack the dress for afterwards.

Gym and classes: BUC Fitness Club and SWEAT 1000, The Point

For strength work, BUC Fitness Club on the 3rd floor of The Point, 76 Regent Road, is the gym on the Atlantic Seaboard we rate highest: personal trainers, biokineticists and physiotherapists under one roof, open from 05:30 on weekdays. SWEAT 1000 runs its full-body group classes in the same club, the first SWEAT 1000 studio in South Africa, and Bjorn Steinbach is the trainer to book. Hours, prices and how a class works are in our Sea Point gym guide.

Wear and bring: trainers, a towel, water. Pack the dress for afterwards.

Social wellness: Virgin Active Point Collection Country Club, Green Point

Point Collection opened in February 2026 as a social wellness club, which means the reformer, the padel courts, the sauna and the pool are under 1 roof and the coffee afterwards is part of the plan. Amaya loves it on the days when Cape Town is doing all 4 seasons at once and you want the padel and the plunge without driving between them. Kanéla is in the same suburb for breakfast.

Heat and cold: SaunaHaüs, Mouille Point

SaunaHaüs is at Prom Park, 160 Beach Road, Mouille Point: a guided sauna and cold plunge session for about R300. Amaya's order is sea first, heat second, plunge third, and the whole thing fits between a dip at the Pavilion and brunch. Go in a swimsuit under a dress you can pull back on over a damp one. Linen does this best.

Run clubs: Running Late Club and NotSoFast

Running Late Club runs in Sea Point in the evening and ends in the ocean. It is social, the pace is conversational and the dip is the point. NotSoFast Running Club is the other name to know, and the name tells you the pace. Kanéla in Green Point runs a Saturday run club with breakfast at the end. Amaya loves the evening runs for 1 reason: by 18:00 the south-easter has usually done its worst and the Promenade light is the best of the day.

Wear and bring: trainers, a swimsuit under the running kit, a towel in a tote and a dress to pull on at the end.

Padel: The Grid, Africa Padel and Racket+Ball Club

Padel has taken over the Atlantic Seaboard, and there are 3 courts Amaya books. The Grid Padel in Three Anchor Bay has Matcha and More inside the building, so the matcha is 10 steps from the court. Africa Padel in Camps Bay is the one with the view, and the one where the wind picks the shots for you after 14:00 in summer. Racket+Ball Club on Bree Street is indoor, which makes it the padel to book when the south-easter is up.

Wear: a sports bra and shorts. Bring a change. A padel hour in a Cape Town summer is a sweaty hour.

Sea dips: Saunders Rock, Camps Bay tidal pool and the Sea Point Pavilion

The Atlantic is cold in every month, so this is a dip, not a swim: 2 minutes in, 10 minutes on the rocks. Saunders Rock tidal pool is in Bantry Bay at the end of the Promenade, and it is the one Amaya walks to. Camps Bay tidal pool is for the days you are already on Victoria Road. The Sea Point Pavilion pool is the easy option, on the Promenade itself.

Wear: a swimsuit you can dress over. Sandals you can rinse.

A week on the Atlantic Seaboard

Monday: reformer at The Movement Lab, 202B Main Road. Tuesday: SWEAT 1000 with Bjorn Steinbach at The Point, padel at The Grid in the afternoon, matcha after. Wednesday: Running Late Club and the ocean. Thursday: reformer at Point Collection, sauna after. Friday: SaunaHaüs at Prom Park. Saturday: Kanéla's run club and breakfast. Sunday: Saunders Rock and nothing else. Amaya does not do all 7 in 1 week either. 3 of them make a Sea Point week.

What to throw on after class

The after-class dress has 3 jobs: go on over a damp swimsuit or a sweaty sports bra, not cling, and look like a decision at the coffee counter. Amaya cuts for it on purpose.

  • The Wild Lounge Set, R1 650. The set for the walk home from the reformer and the matcha queue.
  • The Madison Mini, R1 250. Short enough to pull on at the rocks, dressed enough for breakfast at Kanéla.
  • The Aura Dress, mini linen, R1 800. Linen dries on you, shakes out sand and does not show the damp for long. This is the dress for the sea dip and the SaunaHaüs session.
  • For the drive to Claremont or a windy afternoon, the Byblos Knit Skirt and Top Set, R1 790. It does not crease and holds still in a gust.

Amaya delivers across South Africa for R99, free over R1 500. Pieces leave the studio in 1 to 2 working days. Cape Town takes 1 to 2 working days, Johannesburg and Pretoria 2 to 3, the rest of South Africa 3 to 5. Collect in Sea Point for free. The first exchange is free within 14 days. Sizes are S to L with some one-size styles; the size guide has the measurements. See the holiday collection, or WhatsApp Max on +27 83 703 8502.
